At Opening Young Minds, we are passionate about providing schools with high-quality resources to support children’s resilience and well-being. Our lessons are not just plans, which teachers have to re-create, these PowerPoints have been delivered by hundreds of teachers in schools across the country and are ready to teach NOW.

We have created three different products. Below is a description of each:

Primary PSHE Curriculum (Let’s Talk)

Let’s Talk is a spiral curriculum that has 39 lessons for each year group in primary school (EYFS – Year 6). It covers all statutory objectives and focuses on well-being, relationships and the building of resilience. Every lesson has a ready to teach PowerPoint along with resources to support the application of the skills taught. Children are also given a Let’s Talk journal, which includes a Being Human Dictionary, knowledge organisers and a page to reflect on each lesson.

Primary Careers Curriculum (Careers Journey)

Children are taken on a journey through 66 different careers across ten different sectors. The hour-long lessons (EYFS – Year 6) are designed to ensure that children actually experience the tasks involved in each career. Lessons include pitching a new athletic clothes range for Nike as a fashion designer, participating in the trial of Lumpty Dumpty and managing a budget to create a new hotel chain. The PowerPoints are ready to teach and the children receive a careers passport which they use to reflect on each career.

Secondary Transition Curriculum (Resilience Toolkit)

Just picture it: a new school, new friends, new teachers, new lessons and new buildings. That is a lot of change. What am I referring to? The first week for Year 7 children at secondary school. We have created a curriculum that empathises with this huge challenge and builds skills of resilience to face this challenge. The curriculum includes lessons on triggers, failure, relationships and how to express emotions. The package also includes a Resilience workbook that includes stories, knowledge organisers and tasks to support resilience building.
